Chief Minister to grace NWA 25th Tournament Anniversary

60 Naga style wrestlers will vie for coveted title

The 25th Tournament Anniversary of the Naga Style Wrestling and 11th Senior & 3rd Sub-Junior Free Style wrestling of the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) is schedule to be held at Kohima Local Ground on March 10 and 11 next.
Nagaland Chief Minister T R Zeliang, who is also the president of Nagaland Olympic Association (NAO) will grace the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest while Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Resources and Sports, State Lotteries and MTF, Khriehu Liezietsu will grace the closing ceremony as the guest of honour and give away the prizes.
According to the NWA official sources, the 25th Tournament Anniversary monolith will be unveiled by the chief guest at Phezhu, Jotsoma by 9 a.m. and proceed towards the Kohima Local ground for the inaugural ceremony.
The inaugural ceremony highlights would include unfurling of the Association flag, presentation of the NWA theme song, release of Anniversary balloons, ululating and blowing of horn, lighting of the tournament torch by Er. K Keditsu, former NWA President followed by bearing of anniversary torch by reigning NWA champion Atoto Kire. Presidential address will be delivered by Neikhrolo Khalo, President NWA, release of Tournament anniversary souvenir by Keku Zeliang, former NWA President, wrestling demonstration by young boys, administration of oath to be administered by joint secretary NWA, followed by Naga style wrestling competition.Altogether 60 Naga style wrestlers, 20 each from the three constituent units will vie for the coveted title.
The tournament is being organized and hosted by the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) while the ground management will be taken care of by Chakhesang Baptist Church Ministers’ Hill, Kohima.
The champion of the Tournament will walk away with a cash prize of Rs 5,00,000 sponsored by the NWA and also the champion will be decorated with Late. Velahu Puro Memorial trophy along with cash award of Rs 30,000, the second position holder be awarded Rs 3,00,000 sponsored by Pele Khezhie, President, NCSU and super class-I contractor, the third position holder will receive Rs2,00,000 sponsored by the NWA while the fourth position holder will receive Rs 1,00,000 sponsored by Neikhrolo Lasuh, GB, Netaji Colony, Dimapur.
The group champion will be awarded a sum of Rs 25,000 sponsored by Mutsezo Tetseo (Japan) Coordinator, Culture & Events, Naga Overseas Association, the pre-quarter finalists and quarter finalists will be awarded Rs 10,000 each and Rs 15,000 each respectively.
The senior free style wrestling champion (both male & female including all categories) will get a cash prize of Rs 15,000, runner up Rs 8,000. The Junior wrestling champion will receive Rs 10,000 and the runner up Rs 5,000.
Jury Board members would consist of Hukhoneyi Soho, Pfuduolhou Kense and Rangsam N. Hau. NWA Technical Secretary Hukhoneyi Soho will act as the Chief Umpire. Huvesu Puro, Kezhalelie Keretsu and Hangcheu Nsanglung will be referees in Naga style while, Chisazo Dawhuo, Kikwesul Thokwe and Vilhou Zhasa will be the free style referees. Wezhiepe Wetsah, Pozoto Shijoh, Viliemeto Kehie, Vitsu Ngukha, Puilung N. Hau and Paurangbe Poireng will act as the panel of Judges.
A clinic camp will be held for Referees and Judges on March 9 by 1 p.m., at Kohima Local ground and failure for assigned officials to turn up would make them liable to be exempted from conducting the tournament.
A combined meeting for tournament officials is scheduled at the ground on March 9 by 3.00.p.m, and weight measurement for free style wrestlers of all categories from 2 p.m. Meanwhile a sum of Rs 10,000 will be collected from each constituent unit as an entry fee while Rs 2,000 will also be collected as an annual membership fee.
For Sub-Junior category, age must be testified by acceptable birth certificate. Videography facilities may be availed to sort out disputes in the the Naga style segment, at the payment of amount equivalent to entry fee. The Jury Board’s decision will be final and binding. The NWA conveys its special Invitation to all the NWA former champions and also the state level Naga style wrestling champions to be part of the program.

Former champions to stage comeback

Two former champions – Vekreyi Chuzho and Megosier Khate is all set to take part in the 25th tournament anniversary Naga Style wrestling , 2016,organized by Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA),at Kohima Local Ground ,Kohima on March 10 and 11.
Vekhriyi Chuzho hailing from Phusachodumi Village will represent Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) was the winner on 2008, while Megosier Khate hailing from Khonoma village will represent Angami Sports Association (ASA)won the title in 2010.
Meanwhile it was learnt that Dilu Enangguang from Zeliang Wrestling Association (ZWA) will also take part in the tournament, making his 12th appearance in NWA tournament.
