Chetan Bist’s 304 guides Nagaland to 731-run lead in Ranji Trophy
DIMAPUR — On the second day of the Ranji Trophy match between Mizoram and Nagaland, held at Gokulbhai Somabhai Patel Stadium, Nadiad, Chetan Bist’s record-breaking inning of 304 propelled Nagaland to a commanding position.
An update from the Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) stated that at stumps on Day 2, Mizoram trailed by 731 runs, reaching 5 runs for 2 wickets in 9 overs.
Nagaland’s first inning totalled 736 for 7 declared in 169 overs. Chetan Bist led the charge with a historic 304, not out off 423 balls, anchoring the inning. Nischal Dega provided a strong foundation with a solid 145 off 169 balls, while Jagadeesha Suchith contributed a crucial 99 lower down the order.
Mizoram’s bowling effort was led by KC Cariappa, who was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4 for 141 in 44 overs. Despite his perseverance, the Nagaland batters dominated, setting a mammoth total.
In their inning, Mizoram struggled and lost two early wickets. Lalhriatrenga remained unbeaten on 2 runs off 25 balls, trying to stabilise the inning. Nagaland’s Jagadeesha Suchith stook both the wickets for no runs.
