The two-day year-long Golden Jubilee culmination meet of Cherüdiki Youth and Sports Association commenced today at Dihoma village, some 37 kms east of the state capital.
Cherüiki YSA is the apex body of the Youth & Sports body of the four villages – Chedema, Rüsoma, Dihoma and Kijümetouma under Northern Angami-II Assembly Constituency of Kohima district.
Addressing the inaugural function at Dihoma ground as the chief guest, newly elected MLA of the Constituency, Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu said elections are fought on party line, but once it is over, the people of the constituency irrespective of party colours should come forward to work together for the upliftment of the Constituency.“Be it NPF or BJP, we should forget the past or the happenings of the electioneering period for a better future of the Constituency,” he appealed.
Exhorting the sportspersons, Dr Keditsu said there are lots of opportunities for the youngsters, but sports is most lucrative and therefore the youngsters should take up sports as profession.
He opined that taking up sports would help in self-employment while maintaining that education is very important but one should recognize their own talent for a better future.
He also called upon the sportspersons to be disciplined and dedicated to achieve greater heights in the selected profession while maintaining that discipline reflects one’s dedication and sincerity in every sphere of life.
As the elected representative of the Constituency, Dr. Keditsu also asserted to extend all possible help and support to the sportspersons giving their best to excel.
Chaired by Thejao Chase the programme commenced with Pastor of CRC Dihoma, Vilazhü Lhoungu saying the invocation. President of Dihoma YSA Vizotuonyü Lhoungu delivered the welcome address while DYSA games & sports secretary Savituo Suokhrie administered oath to the participants.
Events such as athletics, football and volleyball would be held during this two-days while Principal of Government Polytechnic Kohima, Er. Vipulhou Lhoungu would grace the valedictory function as the guest of honour.
