Staff Reporter DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 14 The Nagaland Medical Dealers Association (NMDA) endorsed a 12-hour bandh, in which hundreds of pharmacies across the state were closed, from 6 am to 6 pm on October 14. The bandh was called “in pursuance to the nationwide bandh” called by the All India Organization of Chemist and Druggist against the central government’s decision on E-marketing/online sale of medicines “by few entities which is completely against medical ethos and drug controlling norms.” The bandh was also called to safeguard the interest of the medical fraternity as well as the public – to help avoid misuse of drugs by “unrestricted purchase through online system.” According to NMDA, the online purchase systems contradict the prevailing drug control norms in the state.
