Chedema VSU, HQ IGAR, Naga SU and Lamkang SU moves ahead

On the penultimate day of the second round matches of the ongoing student martyrs’ memorial soccer tourney organized by Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) at Kohima Local ground, Chedema Village Students’  Union, HQ IGAR (North), Naga Students’ Union and Lamkang Students’ Union, Manipur booked berth for the pre-quarter finals today.
In the first match of the day, Chedema Village Students’ Union humiliated LN United FC Pughoboto by 9-1 with two of its players Kekhrieletuo Tsira and Vikuotuolie scoring a hat-trick each.Kekhrieletuo Tsira  opened the flood gates in the 11th minute followed by Vikuotuolie’s second and third goal in the 19th and 30th minute respectively while Kobou added the 4th goal in 35th minute. The injury added time of the first half witnessed LN United FC managing to minus a score through Kimyeto Swu.
However, Chedema increased the margin in third minute of breather half through Vikuotuolie making him the tenth hat-trick scorer of the tourney.
Then Kekhrieletuo added his second and sixth for the team in 45th minute followed by Rokuosazo’s double strike (7th & 8th) in 53rd and 62nd minute. While Kekhrieletuo sealed the score board in style with his hat-trick, 11th of the tourney in 65th minute.
The second match was also lopsided with HQ IGAR (North) thrashing Freeman Club Chozuba Town by 8-0 as Demo scored highest six goals.
Demo went into scoring spree from the 11th minute of the match with the first which was the only goal till the first half. However, after the lemon break, he went on adding his second, third, fifth, seventh and eighth goals in 45th, 48th, 57th, 64th and 69th minutes respectively. Abel Sumi scored the fourth goal in 53rd minute while A. S Benjamin added the sixth goal in 63rd minute.
Demo of HQ IGAR scored the 12th and 13th hat-trick and now is the leading scorer with seven goals of the tournament.
In a close-shave third match of the day, Naga Students’ Union Guwahati defeated Hike FC Kohima Village by a solitary goal scored by Henry Chawang through a 25-metre direct free-kick a minute before the final whistle of the match.
The last match of the day between Lamkang Students’ Union Manipur and Phesama Youth Organisation was also closely contested with both the teams locked in 2-2 draw during the stipulated 70 minutes play. Coming from behind visitors (Lamkang) knocked home team (Phesama) 4-3 in the penalty shoot-out.
It was the home team bringing home the lead through Neisaleto Kuotsu in the 15th minute but was responded with the equalizer within next nine minutes of play by Aboi ending the first half in 1-1 draw. Thereafter, two minutes into the second half, visitors took the lead through Angpol while the home team managed to find the equalizer in the 65th minute to end the stipulated time in 2-2 draw.
The tie breaker favoured Lamkang SU as they managed to strike four into the net while Phesama netted only three.
