Dimapur, May 6 (EMN): Strict enforcement of restrictions and checking of travellers at all district entry points have been activated in order to prevent non-essential movement of persons to the containment zone under Kohima district.

An update from DPRO Kohima stated that SDO Civil Sechü Zubza, Tiayanger Jamir informed on Thursday that travellers entering Kohima and heading to other districts of Nagaland were made to provide their details at Peducha check gate under Sechü Zubza.

He informed that most of the travellers were not aware of the new restrictions and didn’t adhere to Covid-appropriate behaviour like proper wearing of masks, 50% occupancy in vehicles etc. despite government’s declaration of Kohima Municipal Area and New Capital Complex as containment zones as well as imposing night curfew from 7 pm to 6 am starting from May 5.

“Travellers have been advised not to undertake non-essential travel and co-operate with the guidelines issued by the government in order to break the chain of transmission. The SDO further informed that the government, healthcare workers and frontline workers alone cannot fight this pandemic but it needs a collective effort of all citizens,” read the update.
