With the growth of technologies everything else has changed.Media also plays a very important role in bring changes in society be it for a positive or negative cause. ‘Cultivation Theory’ is one of the social theories that shows how human gets influenced and gets motivated in doing evil things by watching television.
In Nagaland also like any other parts of the world, it is assumed that ‘cultivation theory’ of adapting negative influence is on the rise.
According to the ‘Comparative Crime Statistics in respect of Dimapur for the year 2012 and 2013’ it shows that cheating in any form is on the rise be it cheating within the family or from the outside.
Nagaland, a Christian state and a free from all these offences and crimes in the past, have now become a state where all these crimes is taking place.
‘Comparative Crime Statistics in respect of Dimapur in the year 2012 and 2013 shows ‘Cheating crime’ registered cases under Dimapur district numbered 20 cases during 2012 has increased to 33 in 2013.
Many surveys have proved that human tend to adapt the social reality portrayed in television in so many ways.
The ‘Comparative Crime Statistics in respect of Dimapur in the year 2012 and 2013’ also shows how that extortion, theft, criminal branch of truth, causing of death due to negligence and other offence under IPC has considerably come down and that there is an improvement in such cases after the introduction of National Security Act(NSA).
According to SP Dimapur, such cases have considerably come down as with the introduction of NSA, an accused will be confined in the jail before the court proceedings. He also narrated that such cases remains low only till the culprits are kept in jail for a longer period of time.
The comparative report also shows that number of persons arrested under cheating offences has been more effective for the current year than for the year 2012. Though the numbers of cases registered have increased, comparatively the number of arrested persons have increased considerably from 16 (number of persons arrested for the year 2012) to 47 (number of persons arrested for the year 2013 till dated 27/11/2013).
The reason for the effective measures take is because of the introduction of Crime Criminal Checking Network System (CCCNS) and also because of the hard and earnest working of the police personnels with their duties, stated the SP Dimapur during an interaction.
According to the SP Dimapur, Nagaland is the only state that has online CCCNS in North- East.
The CCCNS is a project under the National e-Governance Pan of Govt of India which aims at creating a comprehensive and integrated system for enhancing the efficiency and working of policies through adopting the principle of e-Governance and also in creating a nationwide networking infrastructure for evolution of IT-enabled-state-of-the-art tracking system around ‘Investigation of crime and detection of criminals’.
Through this system, various investigations where man power cannot investigate alone are being handled which becomes easier for the police officials to catch hold of culprits registered under such cases.
