CHC Pungro conducts oral cancer awareness camp

Dimapur, Dec. 8 (EMN): Community Health Centre, Pungro, led by dental surgeon Dr. Weri Mero conducted an oral cancer awareness camp at Christian School, Pungro, in Kiphire district on Wednesday.

During the awareness programme, Mero briefed about the importance of oral hygiene for maintaining overall health benefits. He also stressed on the ill effects of consuming tobacco products, stated an update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Kiphire.

He further advised to shun smoking or chewing tobacco, decreasing use of alcohol (0-1 drink/day), eating more fruits and vegetables, seeing a dentist regularly and getting screened for early detection.

The medical team also distributed medicine and pamphlets at the end of the programme, it read.
