DIMAPUR — Community health centre (CHC) in Changtongya under Mokokchung district was conferred the ‘best dental health unit’ in recognition of its exception commitment to promoting and maintaining dental health in the community.
The award was given away during a two-day state review meeting and training for dental surgeons held at IDSP hall of the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Kohima, on September 26 and 27. The training was conducted under the National Oral Health Programme (NOHP).
An update from the Health department stated that the special guest of the inaugural programme, Dr. Chiekroshuyi Tetseo, who is also the director (dental), also gave the ‘Principal director’s commendation certificate’ to Dr. Savi Naleo, junior dental surgeon of CHC Viswema, in recognition of his commitment to patient care and sincere dedication in enhancing oral health.
Dr. Tsetseo also gave away award to Dr. Pfukrolo Koza, senior dental surgeon at NHAK Kohima, in recognition of his expertise in the field of periodontology and unwavering dedication to oral health and outstanding contributions.
As the services and procedures of dental care in hospitals have been diversified, Dr. Tetseo urged the doctors to render better services to the community. Stating that oral health is being ignored by many, he encouraged all to create awareness among people.
He further encouraged all to continue rendering their services and work together for the welfare of the community.
The inaugural programme was chaired by the additional director of dental and SPO (NOHP), Dr. Meribeni Odyuo, wherein she stated that the state review meeting for dental surgeons marked a significant milestone as it is the first time that the programme is being convened under NOHP programme.
She highlighted that the two-day training would be provide opportunities for all the 34 dental health units to participate and share their insights.
Dr. Odyuo urged all the participants to actively participate in productive discussions on foster collaboration with other health programmes in the state.
