Changtongya A wins Dr Imkongliba Ao Memorial Volleyball Trophy
DIMAPUR — Changtongya A emerged as the champion of the 4th edition of Dr Imkongliba Ao Memorial Volleyball Trophy held at DDSC stadium, Dimapur on November 24.
Changtongya A defeated MH-10 in the final match with a scoreline of 23-25, 28-26, 25-21, and 25-17, securing a cash prize of INR 1.50 lakh and a trophy. The runners-up, MH-10, were awarded a cash prize of INR 80,000 along with a trophy. The third position was claimed by Changtongya B, who defeated IMT team, earning a cash prize of INR 40,000 along with a trophy.
During the closing ceremony of the volleyball match, Hekani Jakhalu, the advisor of Industries and Commerce, highlighted the prevalent trust deficit and disunity among the Naga community. She acknowledged the various challenges faced by the Naga people, emphasising the communication gap, often amplified by social media.
Jakhalu stressed the importance of strong friendships, stating that they facilitate better communication and mutual understanding. In the context of the sports event, she encouraged everyone to recognise the opportunity sports provide to cultivate friendships and promote unity.
Additionally, Jakhalu underscored the role of sports in maintaining fitness and good health, urging even those not pursuing sports professionally to prioritise physical well-being. Addressing the younger generation, she emphasised the significant contribution of sports to personal growth, highlighting three crucial lessons— leadership, perseverance, and focus. She expressed that the invaluable learning from sports can profoundly benefit individuals in various aspects of life.
Concluding the event, the vote of thanks was delivered by the convener of the organising committee, Z Temsu Jamir, and the benediction was pronounced by Associate Pastor Limaakum Longchar of DABA.
