Chang highlights socio-economic progress in state

KOHIMA— Minister of Housing and Mechanical Engineering, P Bashangmongba Chang, while taking part in the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address, highlighted the socio-economic progress of the state which is still dependent on agriculture and allied sector.

Acknowledging the government for issuing organic certification to 23,000 hectares of agricultural land in the state, he said the formation of 38 farmer producers’ organisations (FPO) would not only go a long way in boosting the village economy but also create awareness among growers and farmers on the importance of organic farming.

He took note of PWD (National Highway) department that would be widening the existing single-lane road to intermediate lane in NH-202 between Mokokchung and Chare. He informed that upgrading and construction of roads and bridges projects under PWD (Roads and Bridges) such as North East Road Development Scheme, North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme, Central Road Fund Economics Importance, Inter-State Connectivity and Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, would not only provide connectivity but ultimately improve the economy and living condition of the people of the state.

The minister updated that 17 projects under Urban Development such as Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) have been completed and remaining 10 projects would be completed soon.

Chang also stated that the state government is giving all its efforts to provide good health facilities to the people of the state.

“We are happy that the medical college at Kohima will be functional during 2023-24, besides many other health programmes initiated by the government for its citizens deserves to be appreciated,” he said.

Chang also acknowledged the government for listening to the voice of the people of eastern Nagaland.

“I believe that the team constituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs, government of India, to address to the demand of the people of eastern Nagaland will definitely come into a harmonious and sustainable conclusion,” he added.
