Dimapur, June 11 (EMN): Joining with the rest of the world, Kohima Chakhesang Students’ Union (KCSU) has observed the World Environment Day on June 5 at Lerie, a plot situated below Kohima helipad, and sponsored by the social forestry division, Kohima, under the department of Forest, Ecology, Environment and Wildlife, Government of Nagaland.
Commemorating the day on the theme “Beat plastic pollution,” KCSU president, Zacusato Theyo, has delivered a short speech, wherein he called upon the gathering to actively engage in the protection of the ecosystem and other threatening environmental issues. He further challenged the participants to be the ambassadors and warriors in their own capacity on the alarming issues of the environment by educating the families, peers and the society at large in their everyday lifestyles. Theyo also urged to the sections of the society to unite in the fight against plastic and explore alternatives that could sustain the ecosystem.
In a correspondent to the media by the education secretary, Thejoto Nienu, stated that the programme was chaired by the general secretary, Viewolo Koza, while the invocation was said by AGS KCSU, Revine Movi. The vote thanks was said its social and cultural secretary, Ravolu Venuh.
