The Chakhesang Wrestling Association will host the Naga Traditional Wrestling Championship from February 7, featuring top wrestlers and cash prizes.

DIMAPUR — The 30th Senior and 4th Under-15 Naga Traditional Wrestling Championship 2026, organised by the Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA), will commence on February 7 at the CWA Complex.
According to a press release, the championship is being managed by the Porbami Wrestling Association (PWA).
James PK Sangma, National Working President of the National People’s Party (NPP), who also serves as Chairman of the Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation and President of the Meghalaya Cricket Association, will attend the inaugural programme as the special guest. The opening programme is scheduled to begin at 9 am, during which the CWA is also set to be launched.

Four-time defending champion Venuzo Dawhuo will return to defend his title and is expected to face strong competition from leading wrestlers, including Hüluyi D Vadeo, Venu Vadeo, Vethozo Lohe, Kuvenu Puro and Thuputha Hesuh, among others.
In the senior category, the champion will receive INR 2.5 lakh, while the second, third and fourth position holders will get INR 1.7 lakh, INR 1.3 lakh and INR 1 lakh respectively, in addition to bout-wise rewards.
In the Under-15 category, the champion will take home INR 50,000, while the second, third and fourth place winners will receive INR 30,000, INR 15,000 and INR 10,000 respectively. Quarterfinalists will be awarded INR 5,000 each.
The Group Champion will receive INR 20,000, while the Best Discipline Team will be awarded INR 10,000.
