Chakhesang women hold fellowship with drivers
Kohima, May 19 (EMN): The women ministry of Chakhesang Baptist Church Kohima (CBCK) today conducted a fellowship with Chakhesang drivers at the church premises.
Speaking on the topic “Drivers and law,” Rothihü Tetseo, Principal of Police Training School, Chümoukedima, urged upon drivers to know and exercise their duty and responsibility well. He stated that the duty of a driver is to drive, control, maintain safety, know and abide the rules and laws.
He stated that 55% of vehicle accidents are caused by the negligence of the drivers.
He stated that in India, 5, 25, 600 vehicle accidents have been reported killing 1, 47, 913 persons during 2017. In Nagaland, vehicle accidents caused 122 deaths and injured 956 persons during 2017-18 and the property damage/ loss due to vehicle accidents in Nagaland was estimated at INR 50 crore.
“Your vehicle is expensive, value it,” he advised the drivers.
Stating that drivers carry human life, Tetseo called upon them to drive safe by saying, “Life is safe if your driving is safe.”
He also stated that everyone must carry first aid box in the vehicle to attend any emergency.
While sharing on some changes in India Motor Vehicle Act 2017, he however stated that the same was yet to be implemented.
Athono Rhakho, who chaired the fellowship service, stated that the women ministry of CBCK had organised the programmme for Chakheasang drivers for the first time to help encourage them maintain their professional integrity and to have prayer for them and their families.
CBCK senior pastor, Rev. Dr. Kevekhalo Lasuh, also exhorted the gathering. He called upon the drivers to be decent, humble and truthful.
Altogether, 171 drivers attended the programme. Women Ministry also offered gift to drivers.
