Chakhesang Veteran Shuttlers Kohima organises tournament

KOHIMA — The Chakhesang Veteran Shuttlers Kohima held a get-together-cum-tournament on June 8 at Badminton Stadium, Kohima.

Speaking on the occasion, Dozhohu Tunyi, president of Chakhesang Hoho Kohima, expressed happiness over the get-together of veteran shuttlers and appreciated the good turnout, according to an update.

Vezuhu Keyho, president of Chakhesang Public Organisation, stressed the need to maintain physical exercise and a healthy lifestyle and emphasised the importance of organising such events regularly.

A total of 47 veteran shuttlers participated in the tournament, with Atuo Khupfu serving as chief umpire and Rukuwe Lomi as assistant umpire. Prizes were jointly sponsored by Kelhikha Kenye, Kuko Mero, and Vechiso Rhakho, while former minister Neiba Kronu sponsored the tournament feast.

In the 100+ Veteran Double category, the champions were Kuko Mero and Vechiso Rhakho, while Razoukhru Vasa and Nukusa were the runners-up.

In the 90+ Veteran Double category, Vekhozo Khamo and Mudozo emerged as champions, with Nukusa and Tsutshowe Kupa finishing as runners-up.

In the 80+ Veteran Double category, Muzivo and Mudozo claimed the championship, and Venepra Puro and Kelhikha Kenye were the runners-up.

Meanwhile, it was announced that the Kohima Chakhesang Veteran Badminton Association will be led by Kelhikha Kenye as president, with Venepra Puro as secretary and Vechiso Rhakho as treasurer.
