DIMAPUR — The Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) has welcomed Nagaland government’s decision to constitute a reservation review commission (RRC).
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the CPO termed the move a positive step towards fairness, transparency, and a more inclusive employment policy.
Appreciating the government’s commitment to addressing disparities in public employment, it stated that advanced tribes continue to have better access to resources, education, and jobs, while backward tribes face serious challenges in representation and socio-economic development.
Citing Personnel Information Management System (PIMS) and Census data, the organisation pointed out stark imbalances in employment between advanced and backward tribes and urged the government to safeguard the interests of backward tribes when framing the revised policy.
“The CPO, while welcoming the decision of the government to constitute a commission to review the state’s job reservation policy, strongly urges the formation of a statutory commission comprising highly reputed experts, empowered to function independently and objectively.
“This commission should undertake a comprehensive overhaul of the existing policy to reflect the current socio-economic realities of the state,” it stated.
