Chairperson of Railway Board and CEO inspects Sivok – Rangpo Rail Project
DIMAPUR — The Chairperson of Railway Board and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Jaya Varma Sinha, on Friday took stock of the ongoing Sivok – Rangpo Rail Project (SRRP) by inspecting the lining works of Tunnel No. T – 1, T – 7 and T – 8.
She was accompanied by Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of N. F. Railway, and Satish Kumar Pandey, General Manager/N. F. Railway/Construction along with other senior officials, said an update from NFR.
The Sivok – Rangpo New Rail Line Project is one of the most prestigious ongoing National Projects in India that aims to put Sikkim on the railway map of the country, it added.
Notably, the first underground railway station within the Indian Railways network i.e. Teesta Bazar Station comes under Tunnel no. T – 7, marking a pioneering step in the advancement of Railway infrastructure in the country.
Sinha also inspected Testa Bridge and Sivok Station construction work before meeting with the officials of Indian Railway Construction Organisation (IRCON) to discuss all aspects of the ambitious project, which include 14 tunnels (total 38.53 km), five railway stations and 13 major bridges.
She also stressed the safety and sustainability in tunnel construction which is crucial for ensuring uninterrupted connectivity.
