DIMAPUR — Christian Forum Dimapur (CFD) has assured to mediate for a joint meeting with the Christian leaders from Meite and Kuki communities at the earliest in order to strengthen and restore relationship between the two communities irrespective of their faith.

CFD has issued this statement after undertaking its third visit to Manipur from August 26 to the 28th. The CFD team comprised of its chairman Rev. Moses Murry; vice chairman Rev. Vitoshe Swu; advisor Rev. Dr. N Paphino; and Archbishop Thomas from Guwahati.

The team visited two Meite relief camps in Moirang district and two Kuki relief camps in Churachandpur. The team also met and had prayer fellowship with All Manipur Christian Organisation (AMCO), Meite Christian Churches Council Manipur (MCCCM), Kuki Baptist Association (KBA) and Kuki’s Christian Leaders Fellowship (KCLF).

It stated that the team had time of sharing and prayed together for the present situation faced by the people of Manipur and the Christian community in particular. The team exhorted the leaders to uphold their faith in Jesus Christ and work together with hope for restoration of peace and justice in the state of Manipur.

The team has expressed gratitude to AMCO, MCCCM, KBA and KCLF for organising the programme during its visit and making it a success.

Prayer rally and candlelight service

Christian Forum Dimapur (CFD) would hold prayer rally and candlelight service on September 3 at DDSC (public ground) at 5 pm on the theme “Pursue peace and justice” (Psalm 34:14, Isaiah 1:17).

The event is being organised with a purpose to appeal to the central and state government of Manipur to restore peace in the state of Manipur. It would also appeal to the government to rebuild the religious institutions, particularly the churches that have been destroyed during the violence.

CFD, therefore, appealed and encouraged all the Christian leaders and believers in and around Dimapur including people of other faith to participate and expressed their solidarity and support for peace and justice in Manipur.
