Dimapur, Oct. 2 (EMN): Following the announcement of bye-election to the 14th Southern Angami-1 and 60th Pungro-Kiphire assembly constituencies scheduled on November 3, the Nagaland chief electoral officer (CEO) held a meeting with all the political parties at Hotel Japfu, Kohima on Thursday.
A DIPR report stated that the CEO and his team of officials briefed the representatives of the political parties about the broad guidelines issued by ECI for conducting elections during Covid-19, the various provisions of election expenditure monitoring, enforcement of MCC, about EVMs/ VVPATs, and several other pertinent issues connected with the conduct of the bye-elections.
The report also stated that various IT initiatives taken by the Commission was also highlighted in the meeting. The CEO also informed about the Special Summary Revision of Electoral rolls with reference to 01.01.2021 as the qualifying date.
The report further stated that representatives from various political parties including BJP, INC, NDPP, NPF, NPP, JD, RPI (A) were present in the meeting.
