IN what can be called a “Christmas gift” to the people of Nagaland, the government of India has assured to provide every possible assistance for expansion of road network in the state.According to sources, Union DoNER Minister Dr Jitendra Singh assured that the Centre will provide every possible help to expand road network during phase-II road construction from Chuchuyimlang to Yali via Salulemang, Longra Yangpi at an estimated cost of Rs 38 crore.
Talking over phone from Delhi, Minister for National Highways and Mechanical Engineering Nuklutoshi said he met Union DoNER Minister Dr Singh on December 23 evening at latter’s office in Delhi and submitted a proposal for expansion of road network in Nagaland to him. “I am very happy that the minister assured to extend all possible help for it,” he said.
Dr Singh also said he is aware that the road from Chuchuyimlang to Yali via Salulemang, Longra Yangpi connects three districts of the State – Longleng, Mon and Tuensang. The importance of this road can, therefore, by no means be underestimated, Nuklutoshi quoted the DoNER minister as saying.
In regard to setting up of a modern workshop-cum-training institute in Dimapur to train the unemployed youth with vocational skills, the Union Minister said the demand will also be sympathetically considered. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was particularly concerned about increasing employment avenues for the youth living in peripheral and insurgency hit states of North East.
