Centre opens online portal for scholarship scheme

Dimapur, July 21 (EMN): The School Education department has informed that the ministry of Minority Affairs has opened the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) on July 15 for applying online scholarships for 2019-20.
The government publicity agency, the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) issued updates informing about the programme. The ‘online implementation of pre-matric scholarship scheme shall be done through the NSP of the government of India, under URL www.scholarships.gov.in,’ the IPR stated.
A mobile app ‘National Scholarships (NSP)’ has been prepared for use by all the applicants in the remote or hilly areas, the updates stated. A link to the site is also there in the website of the ministry ie., www.minorityaffairs.gov.in.
The detailed guidelines and standard operation procedure of the scholarship scheme is available on the portal, the updates stated.

According to the IPR, the following actions have been decided by the ministry:
i. All schools that do not have valid AISHE/DISE codes have been deregistered. A provision has been made for their re-registration after obtaining valid AISHE/DISE code.

ii. Email IDs and mobile numbers of all the Schools registered/stored in NSP have been deactivated. District/state nodal officers, as the case may be, will verify credentials of the school nodal officer and reset his/her password through a well-defined procedure, wherein, the schools nodal officer will fill up an online form on the portal and get the print out authenticated in duplicate with his/her Head of the School and submit it to the district/state nodal officer. On verification, district/state nodal officer will activate the account of the institute/school in the portal using their login credentials.

iii. District/State nodal officer will retain a copy of duly authenticated online form, received from schools, and return the second copy to the schools for their respective records. It will be responsibility of the schools to retain the copy received from the district/state nodal officer and produce it to the appropriate authority on demand.

iv. The tentative timeline activities for the year 2019-20 for fresh and renewal of scholarships in respect of pre-matric:

v.All renewal applicants/students who got scholarship during 2018-19 may apply by their existing Application ID.

vi. Students those who had received scholarship for 2018-19 should apply for renewal and students who did not get scholarship last year/applying for the first time will have to apply for fresh by registering in the portal.

vii. Students can check their payment status (2018-19) by login in the ‘portal services list of the applicants processed for scholarship.’

viii. Students are advised to carefully read the guidelines for registration on the National Scholarship Portal.

ix. All efforts should be made to adhere to the timelines given on the portal.
