Centre assures State on security expenditure

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today apprised Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on difficult issues related to the maintenance of security personnel in the State. Rio drew the attention of the Union Minister to complications arising out of the long delay in claiming the reimbursement of Security Related Expenditure (SRE), the maintenance of the India Reserve Battalion (IRB) due to recurring expenditure burden on the State, creating opportunities for IR Mahila Battalion in the UN Missions, 50% induction of Nagaland Police Service Officers into IPS, the need to set-up a Regional Police Academy in Nagaland etc. Besides, he also discussed Naga Political issues.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by three of his cabinet colleagues including Ministers of Geology and Mining, Home, Environment & Forests and Border Affairs. The delegation was assured of all possible help from the Centre to the state.
The Union Home Minister expressed the desire of the Centre for early solution to the Naga political problems.
Minister Geology and Mining TR Zeliang apprised the Union Home Minister of the provisions under Article 371 (A) of the Constitution of India relating to the ownership of Land and its Resources in the state. He further drew the attention of the Minister to the latest communication of the Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas pertaining to Nagaland.
Rio and TR Zeliang also met Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar and discussed the issues relating to setting up of a Veterinary College in Nagaland. Pawar assured all possible help for the project.
