Centre assures assistance to eastern Nagaland
Dimapur, Aug. 25 (EMN): The union minister of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) as well as in-charge of Culture and Tourism, G Kishan Reddy, has assured to take up states for the development of eastern Nagaland on priority.
Reddy made this assurance during a meeting with the legislators from eastern Nagaland and officials from Duda in Delhi on August 25.
An update from the PRO (IPR), Nagaland House in New Delhi, Kuolie Mere, informed that the union minister had assured the delegation that the matter would be taken up at the earliest in a phased manner. He, however, directed the delegation to mention the top priority list for the first phase of the project proposal.
The union minister also mentioned that he would discuss with the Prime Minister and other line ministries for early sanction.
The update stated that the state Health Minister, S Pangnyu Phom, had apprised the union Minister on the special economic package announced by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, during his visit to eastern Nagaland in the year 2018. It added that various development project proposals for eastern Nagaland were submitted to DoNER ministry for early sanction.
The delegation also highlighted the meeting between the NITI Aayog CEO and other officials held on August 24 and reminded about the project proposals submitted in DoNER Ministry.
The delegation strongly appealed to the union minister to personally intervene and take up the matter in the interest of eastern Nagaland.
The officials present during the meeting included joint secretary, deputy secretary of DoNER ministry and DRC Nagaland House, New Delhi.
Later in the day, the delegation also called on the union minister for Law and Justice, Kiren Rijiju, at his official residence and briefed him about the Prime Minister’s special package for Eastern Nagaland area. They also requested him to intervene and support their demand.
Report further stated that the union minister had responded positively and assured to meet the DoNER minister and other colleagues to ensure success of the projects.
