Centre assures aid to Eastern Nagaland

Dimapur, Nov. 16 (EMN): Vice chairman of NITI Aayog has assured all possible assistance for the development of Eastern Nagaland as committed by the Union Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
Vice chairman of NITI Aayog made this assurance to the visiting Eastern Nagaland Legislatures’ Union (ENLU) delegation on November 16 led by its convenor S Pangnyu Phom, minister of health and family welfare, and secretary general Toshi Wungtung, advisor of IPR, SCERT & VG, alongwith Bongkhao Konyak, advisor of DUDA, H Haiying, advisor of prisons and printing & stationery, CL John, MLA, and officials from DUDA.A press release issued by Kuolie Mere, PRO (IPR) Nagaland House, New Delhi, stated that the team had apprised the NITI Aayog in regard to the Prime Minister’s commitment for development of the Eastern Nagaland region particularly on education, road connectivity, health, tourism and agri & allied sectors.
It also stated that NITI Aayog vice chairman had assured to look into the matters with all earnest and taken up as per the feasibility reports from the concerned ministries. He was appreciative of the fact that the ENLU had taken the pains and efforts to bring forth the detailed proposals.
Earlier in the morning, the team had also met the union minister of state for home affairs, Kiren Rijiju, wherein they apprised him on the urgent need to modernise and upgrade the village guards in the state, which is a unique force in its structure and duties as compared to other parts of the country. The minister stated that the proposal of the state government was under serious consideration by the Government of India.
