Kohima, May 28 (EMN):
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Thursday repeated its earlier guidelines, asking the states to ensure compliance to the containment measures for Covid-19 till June 30 in districts that has 10% positivity rate in the past week or if hospital bed occupancy is more than 60%.

Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla wrote in his letter to all the State chief secretaries that the strict implementation of containment and other measures has led to a declining trend in the number of new and active cases across states and union territories, barring some areas in the southern and north-eastern regions.

However, he observed that in spite of the declining trend, the number of active cases at present is "still very high”, which is why it’s important to strictly implement containment measures.

"Any relaxation by states/union territories, may be considered at an appropriate time, in a graded manner, after assessing the local situation, requirements and resources," read the letter.

Therefore, it urged the chief secretaries to adhere to the containment measures, as has been advised by Ministry of Home and Family Welfare (MoHFW) earlier.

He also advised that guidelines issued by the respective state governments/UT administrations for implementing containment measures be widely disseminated to the public and to the field functionaries for effective implementation.
