Central team to visit eastern Nagaland in next few days

Dimapur, Dec. 11 (EMN): Close on the heels of a meeting between Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO), a team from the Central government is likely to visit eastern Nagaland on December 16 pertaining to the Frontier Nagaland statehood demand, according to sources.
The Central team is anticipated to visit Tuensang district, although the exact purpose of the visit is not yet known, the source said.
The ENPO meeting with Amit Shah, on Dec.6 in New Delhi, was also attended by Rajya Sabha MP Phangnon Konyak, secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Director IB, Addl. Secretary MHA (NE) and advisor NE.
During the meeting, the Union minister had said that “the grievances and request for separate entity is understood”, and highlighted a “clear road-map for amicable, legislative and sustainable solution for eastern Nagaland” in consultation with the people of eastern Nagaland and state government.
Shah had also assured to visit eastern Nagaland by January 2023.
