[caption id="attachment_251167" align="aligncenter" width="550"] Central team and officials from Kohima District Agriculture Office during the field survey to Fall Army Worm infestation area on May 20.[/caption] Dimapur, May 26 (EMN): Following reports on recent infestation of Fall Army Worm (FAW) in agriculture fields, District Agriculture Office, Kohima, conducted a field survey along with the central team on May 20. The survey team comprised of experts from Integrated Pest Management (IPM) including L Nungsang Jamir, Deputy Director of Agriculture; Mhalevilie Thorie, Agriculture Field Assistant; Colie Luho from District Agriculture Office; Agriculture Field Assistant Abounuo Vimera from Chiephobouzou block; officials from Central Integrated Pest Management Centre, Directorate of Plant Protection; Quarantine and Storage from Dimapur Dr. Mukesh Babu; Plant Protection Officer Kiachang; Scientific Assistant Imlirenla. The team visited Chedema village and Rűsoma village in Kohima district. The team observed that the infestation was very high and immediate management measures are needed to be applied. The team advised farmers to collect data of the affected area of the village and collect chemicals for immediate control measure as other management option was observed to be uneconomical observing the level of infestation. The central team from Central Integrated Pest Management Centre, Directorate of Plant Protection, Quarantine and Storage had collected sample for further observation, researched and recommendation.
