DIMAPUR — House listing review meetings for Census 2027 were held in Meluri to assess the ongoing exercise and stress the importance of accurate enumeration.
Director of Census Operations, Nagaland, Dr. Kenei Miachieo, visited Meluri on July 8 to review the ongoing house listing exercise of Census 2027, a DIPR report stated.
A review meeting was held with the deputy commissioner, charge officers, and liaison officer, Census, associated with the Census operations at the residential office of the Deputy Commissioner, Meluri, Phuleshe K Yepthomi.
Addressing the meeting, Dr. Miachieo emphasised the importance of ensuring accuracy and completeness in the house listing exercise, stating that quality data collected during the first phase would serve as the foundation for the subsequent stages of Census 2027.
Dr. Miachieo cautioned that inaccurate or false enumeration during the house listing process could lead to complications in the later phases of the Census and stressed the need for strict adherence to the prescribed Census guidelines and procedures.
He urged the charge officers to carry out the exercise with sincerity, diligence and accountability, ensuring that every household is correctly enumerated.
He also highlighted the importance of verification and timely completion of the exercise to maintain the credibility and reliability of the Census.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to interact with the charge officers on the ongoing house listing exercise and discuss issues related to field implementation.
East Dimapur steps up Census preparations
A meeting on the ongoing Census exercise for East Dimapur town was held at the conference hall of the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, on Thursday.
The meeting was chaired by Imliwabang Aier, Extra Assistant Commissioner and Town Census Officer, Dimapur, the report stated.
Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Diana Patton, ADC Dimapur, called upon the councillors and gaon buras to extend full support and assistance to the enumerators during the house listing operations.
She stressed that the accuracy of Census data was of utmost importance and urged all stakeholders to cooperate and coordinate closely with the Census officials to ensure the successful completion of the exercise.
Addressing the gathering, Aier expressed gratitude to the councillors and gaon buras for their continued support and cooperation in the Census exercise.
Aier informed that the house listing operations were currently underway and urged the participants to disseminate awareness among colony residents about the importance of the Census.
He appealed to them to sensitise the public to cooperate with the enumerators and provide accurate and truthful information so that the Census data would be reliable and comprehensive.
The meeting concluded with an appeal to all concerned to work together for the smooth and successful conduct of the ongoing Census operations in East Dimapur town.
The meeting was attended by the councillors of the East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) and gaon buras of all wards under East Dimapur town.
