Dimapur, Nov. 7 (EMN): Yemhi Memorial College (YMC) observed its first annual ‘Cultural and Literary Fest’ on November 5 at the college premises. President, Naga Council Dimapur, E Kikon and chairperson, YMC governing body, Piholi, as the special guests of the inaugural and closing functions respectively, YMC informed in an update.

Speaking on the theme, ‘Share our similarities, celebrate our differences’, the Naga Council president encouraged the students to practice, preserve and nourish the “assets” given to them by their ancestors.

Kikon urged the students to evolve with the time but also to be always rooted in their culture.

He advised the students to explore the many avenues and options provided to them and not to limit themselves to government jobs. Students should not only nourish themselves with knowledge but should also polish their attitudes and personalities, he said.

The inaugural function was chaired by Ngaichin Singson, HoD (Education).

In the closing function, Piholi exhorted the students to celebrate and appreciate their diverse customs and practices. She also encouraged the students to “create a Nagaland that stands as one mighty nation.”
