Medical staff administers Covid-19 vaccine during a vaccination drive organised by CECS in Dimapur.

Dimapur, Aug. 8 (EMN): Community Educational Centre Society (CECS), with support from Wipro Cares, organised a one-day awareness-cum-Covid-19 vaccination drive programme at Bangjak Phom Colony and East Block in Burma Camp, Dimapur, on the theme “Vaccine bring us closer.”

An update from CECS informed that Pongtei Phom, chairman of Bangjak Phom Colony, stressed the importance of taking vaccines and encouraged the people not to be driven by misconceptions about the vaccine.

Dr. Sashi Jamir, medical officer, stated that getting a Covid dose might not guarantee an individual from Covid-19 but one should maintain and follow the SOP seriously. He specifically informed that the main purpose of Covid vaccine was to build one’s immunity to a disease before getting sick and to prevent from hospitalisation.

The update added that around 180 doses were successfully administered to the people.

The awareness programme was attended by the colony head, CECS director Subonenba Longkumer, medical team and the organisers along with the community people.

Meanwhile, CECS expressed gratitude to the CMO Dimapur for not only granting permission to organise the camp but also providing medical staff for the vaccination camp.
