KOHIMA — The Centre Chakhesang Sports Association (CCSA) held its inaugural Centre Chakhesang Cultural Day on Tuesday at the Middle Khomi Local Ground in Phek district.
Speaking as the special guest, Veyielo Doulo, Additional Director, Department of Tourism, urged the youth to love, help, and grow together, stating that the spirit of oneness will be impossible to achieve if people do not love one another.
Talking about the CCSA’s motto, “Unity is strength,” he urged the youth to remain united and strive for progress and a peaceful society. He also encouraged people to protect the forest and wildlife.
Dulo urged the younger generation to understand their roots and preserve the rich culture and traditions of the Nagas. Highlighting the significant potential of the tourism industry in the state, he encouraged villagers to explore opportunities in becoming tour operators, tourist guides, and providers of homestay facilities.
He assured a capacity building programme on tourism packages for the youth at Middle Khomi soon. He also invited the youth to apply for diploma courses in food, beverages, hospitality, and hotel administration at the State Institute of Hotel Management in Dimapur.
It would facilitate job placement in the star hotels in the country, he said.
The event featured seven villages: Porba, Sakraba, Pholami, Gidemi, Lower Khomi, Middle Khomi, and Upper Khomi, which competed in duet indigenous, war cry, traditional fire making, folk dance, tug of war, and greased pole climbing.
