CCEM consultative meet adopts 8-point recommendation

Dimapur, August 9 (EMN): The consultative meeting on Clean Election drive was held under the aegis of Chakhesang Clean Election Movement (CCEM) on August 9 at NBCC Platinum Hall, Bayavu, Kohima.
During the meeting, general secretary of NBCC, Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho, spoke on the role of leaders in Clean Election Movement while Kekhwengulo Lea and Yesonu Veyie spoke on general views, clean e-rolls and proxy voting.
The meeting was chaired by Theja Therieh, president of Chakhesang Hoho Kohima, opening prayer by Rev. Dr. Thupu-o Nyekha, Presbyter Christian Life Church, AG, Kohima; Rev. Dr. Vezopa Tetseo, executive secretary of CBCC led devotion and introduction while Dr. Kuzhopoyo Tunyi, convenor of CCEM highlight the Clean Election guidelines and the progress of Clean Election Movement in Phek district. The meeting was closed with a prayer by Rev. Zhowhuyi Nyekha, Pastor CCRC, Kohima.
The meeting had an extensive deliberation on practical action plan for creating awareness on the Clean Election Movement. The consultative meet adopted the following recommendation to the CCEM of Phek district:
1. The meeting unanimously recommended to the CCEM to engage the Chakhesangs living in Kohima and Dimapur to visit targeted villages in Phek district to create awareness on Clean Election and cleansing of e-rolls to ensure free and fair election.
2. All believers must express their voices in support to the Clean Election Movement and practice what is preached on One Man, One vote and One Government.
3. The primary duty of the Church is to propagate spiritual guidelines and co-ordinate with other civil bodies to carry forward the mission of Clean Election.
4. As responsible believers, we must prepare ourselves to report our complaints to the appropriate authorities on any punishable offence so that the law will take its own courses on action.
5. E-Roll is the fundamental basis for democratic process and therefore, all effort must be given to assist the Election Department for clean E-Roll.
6. The meeting recommend to the CCEM to recruit Volunteer Task Force from villages to keep vigilant on electoral processes and purification of E-Rolls in their respective blocks. The meeting also propose to conduct orientation trainings to equip the volunteers on basic guidelines and relevant laws for smooth conduct of election.
7. The meeting unanimously endorsed the 18-point Clean Election guidelines laid down by CCEM.
8. The meeting appeals the members of our community to revisit our roots and revive the legacy of honesty and integrity.
