CBCNEI prays for peace in Karbi Anglong district

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 8

THE Council of Baptist Churches in Northeast India (CBCNEI), the apex body of the 7000 Baptist churches in the Northeast India, expressed deep anguish and sorrows over the loss of precious lives, destruction of property and displacement of people, causing fear among peacefully cohabiting Karbi and Rengma brothers. The Council prayed and appealed to leaders and youth of both communities for peace. It also urged all to refrain from ethnic coloration of the event.
The Council further requested the administration concerned to take just action against the perpetrators, provide adequate security and protection to people for restoration of peace in whole of Karbi Anglong district.
It also appealed to government and non-governmental agencies and churches to graciously help in relief work and facilitate continuing education of the displaced students, especially those who are going to write exams in February.
It appealed to all churches for prayer vigil for healing, forgivingness and brotherhood to prevail against all evil schemes.
