DIMAPUR — The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), field office (FO), Tuensang, organised a one-day integrated communication and outreach programme on nine years’ of the Narendra Modi government (seva, sushasan and garib kalyan), along with a systematic voters’ education and electoral participation (SVEEP) campaign on Tuesday.

According to a DIPR report, it was held at Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS), Tuensang, with T Temsu Pongen, inspector, attending the event as the special guest and Hongsangsonla Chang as the resource speaker.

Speaking on the occasion, Pongen highlighted the importance of effectively utilising government schemes, along with the employment opportunities available to the youth. He emphasised that learning is a continuous process and encouraged the students to persist in their pursuit of knowledge for success, stressing that life never ceases to offer learning experiences.

Furthermore, he underscored the role of CBC in bridging the gap between the government and the public by facilitating the clear and reliable dissemination of information.

Hongsangsonla mentioned in her brief speech that the SVEEP campaign is the Election Commission of India’s flagship programme for voter education, raising voter awareness, and promoting voter literacy in India.

She added that the primary goal of SVEEP is to foster a truly participatory democracy in India by encouraging all eligible citizens to vote and make informed decisions during the election. She explained that the programme is based on multiple general as well as targeted interventions, which are designed according to the socio-economic, cultural, and demographic profile of the state as well as the history of electoral participation in previous rounds of elections and learning.

She further urged the students and dignitaries at the programme to spread the knowledge among families, friends, and neighbours.

The programme was chaired by Arenjungla, headmistress of EMRS, while Sungmo, administrator of ERMS, presented the welcome address. Hingnamdi Newme, field publicity officer for CBC, FO Tuensang, delivered the vote of thanks.
