Catholic Church has contributed immensely to education, social service — Tuliram Ronghang
Diphu, May 8 (EMN): The Catholic Church has contributed immensely to the spread of education in Karbi Anglong and rendered social service to the underprivileged section of people, stated Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC).
He was speaking during the concluding day of the golden jubilee celebration of Diphu parish at the Cathedral of the Risen Lord on Sunday.
Attributing the Catholic Church for the spread of education the CEM further said, “Where ever Don Bosco Schools are set up, there is educational upliftment and many successful persons are produced”.
The CEM also wished all the mothers present a happy Mother’s Day and thanked the organisers for ‘successfully arranging the jubilee celebration and inviting him to be part of it’.
Bishop of Diphu Diocese, Rev. Paul Mattekattm in his homily during the holy mass, urged the gathering to strengthen their faith through this jubilee.
“By this jubilee celebration let us strengthen our faith by surrendering ourselves to God. By reading the Holy Bible, participating in holy mass and living by the teaching of the Bible, we can make our faith deeper”, Rev. Mattekatt said.
The bishop also unveiled the jubilee memorial stone.
The jubilee committee also felicitated the founding families, priests, nuns and bishops who contributed to Diphu Parish with a memento and Karbi traditional items.
The CEM was accompanied by Executive Member (EM), KAAC, Pradip Rongpi and MAC Richard Tokbi.
