Kohima, May 26 (EMN): The Catholic Association of Nagaland (CAN) on Tuesday donated INR 7 lakh to the state government to help meet the “transportation cost” of stranded citizens coming from outside the state.

In a letter addressed to the chief minister of Nagaland, the association stated: “We understand that the enormity of your responsibility has increased much more by the weight of Covid-19 pandemic.”

Stating that the contribution was “to partake in shouldering the transportation cost of passengers stranded in other states being brought home in hired bus”, the Catholic Association of Nagaland requested the government to accept its “good will” gesture.

“We come forward to remind you that we are with you in our humble prayers, in your resolve in protecting the lives of the citizens of Nagaland from the infection of the pandemic Covid-19,” the letter read.

Further, the association assured their constant prayer support for the government as well as the citizens of Nagaland.

Meanwhile, the office of the chief minister has acknowledged the contribution of CAN towards the Chief Minister Relief Fund for Covid-19.
