Cast away political differences for the sake of development: Thongwang

Inaugurating the Chi Chingngoi Chunhoa Morung of Chi village on January 9, MLA & Chairman NKVIB & DPDB Mon, N Thongwang Konyak appealed to the people of his constituency to leave behind all political differences and extend full cooperation to the government to pave way for community development. He informed that smooth development cannot take place in any society without peace and unity among the people. Emphasizing on the need for quality roads, the MLA said that without proper transport and communication, economic development could not be achieved and assured that he was ready to take up any projects for the development of the community.
Describing morung as a place of learning and teaching all kinds of human development and behaviour, he urged the people to uphold the moral values and tradition of the morung, and to make it a centre of learning. He also lauded the leaders of the morung for taking the initiative and completing the building in time.
Deputy Commissioner, Mon Angau I Thou, who graced the occasion as the guest of honour recalled that morung was a place of learning for the young generation which imparts training to the youths to become responsible citizens of the society as per the traditions and culture of the Nagas.
She appealed to the youths and the leaders of the Chingngoi Chunhoa morung to take the initiative of transforming the mindset of the Konyak society by setting good examples to the people of the district, in an endeavour to march forward. She also advised them to have strong determination in acquiring quality education for human development and also to extend full cooperation to the Government for all round development of the district.
The chief guest along with the Deputy Commissioner and his entourage also visited Longgok Morung and interacted with people. Short speeches were also delivered by Hoka, Tongmeth, Gopang and Deputy Angh of Chi village.
Earlier, welcomes address was delivered by chairman construction committee Hanlong Konyak. The celebration was marked by cultural dances and special numbers.
