Carriage and wagon workshops of NF Railway achieved remarkable performance

DIMAPUR — The New Bongaigaon and Dibrugarh workshops under Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), which undertake maintenance and repairing of train coaches and goods wagons, recorded a remarkable increase in output during the month of February, 2024.

As per an update from the NFR, the New Bongaigaon workshop carried out intermediate overhauling (IOH) of 64 sets Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) and ICF (conventional type) trolleys as against the target of 50 sets per month.

It also did a periodical overhauling (POH) of 55 coaches (27 LHB and 28 ICF) including two power cars during the month; out turned 206 wheel sets from wheel lathe; out turned 154 wagons and six brake vans with conversion of 12 trolleys of 06 wagons into high-speed trolleys; and 46 wagons were converted to twin pipe air brake system, said the update.

At the Dibrugarh workshop, a periodical maintenance of 33 LHB coaches and 34 ICF coaches were done against the target of 20 LHB coaches and 30 ICF coaches in February, POH outturn was 67 against the target of 50, 614 wheel sets (355 LHB & 259 ICF) overhauled, 19 LHB AC coaches fitted with Fire Detection System, Air Brake System modified in 15 coaches, and scrap disposal touched to 322.70 MT, which is almost 160% higher than in January.
