DIMAPUR — The Carl Rogers Institute of Mental Health and Research Centre (CRIMHRC), Kohima, in partnership with Trinity College, on Thursday hosted a teacher’s orientation that explored the profound impact of Carl Rogers’ person-centred approach on the student-teacher relationship.
According to an update, the session held at Trinity School Auditorium, Kohima, underscored the foundational principles of Rogers’ theory, emphasising how educators can create a truly supportive and nurturing learning environment through core factors such as empathy, unconditional positive regard, and congruence.
By focusing on these elements, the workshop highlighted the importance of teachers understanding students’ perspectives, accepting them without judgement, and being genuine and authentic in their interactions.
It said that this approach aims to equip teachers with the skills to foster a classroom atmosphere that not only facilitates academic growth but also promotes students’ emotional well-being and self-discovery.
