Career guidance cum group discussion prog at PGC

Dimapur, July 19 (EMN): Career guidance cum group discussion programme was organised by Prism Club in collaboration with Rural Organization for Advancement of People’s Action Development Service (ROAPADS) at Peren Government College (PGC) on July 15.
Dr. Diheiraibe Ndang, MD (General Medicine) and Namruttei Chilen, entrepreneur were the resource persons of the programme.
Dr. Ndang shared on the importance of looking out for career other than the government jobs and various scopes in the management sector, entrepreneurship and farming giving power point presentation. He further addressed on the issue of use of tobacco and alcohol and types of oral and liver cancer.
Namruttei Chilen, an alumni of the college and a successful entrepreneur shared how he was brought up from a very poor family, started earning at his early age and by the time he reached 8th standard how he became totally independent. He continued to pursue his studies and graduated with English major all self sponsored giving private tuitions. Chilen who now runs a chicken butcher business successfully, urged the students that his success is all because of the blessing of God and hard work and said that the qualities needed for a persons you be successful is determination with a positive mindset, humility and cheerfulness. The programme covered areas on social work, competitive exams, entrepreneurship, private sector and health education.
President of Prism club, Keyizieteing Ndang gave a brief introduction about the club and emphasised on the motive of conducting the programme, to create awareness about independent career pursuance and employment opportunities other than government jobs.
Principal of PGC, Dr . Katoni Jakhalu shared on the importance of changing one’s mindset and keeping an open mind to learn new things.
Rampauyi Ndang, president of Peren Students Union; P. David Ndang, coordinator of Peace Channel, Peren District; Isapheing Hegwang and Isapraing Ndang monitored the discussion session.
