The Care & Support Centre for People Living with HIV/AIDS was launched by Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Sushil Kumar Patil, on September 24. The programme was organized by the Network of Mokokchung District People Living with HIV/AIDS (NMP+).
Speaking during the occasion, the chief guest said that those people living with HIV (PLHVS) not only need medicines but most importantly they need social equality. Therefore, it is the duty of all citizens to bring them out of the social stigma and discrimination. The deputy commissioner urged all the NGOs and the media fraternity to discriminate awareness to the people so that they would not be the next victim saying that it is nobody’s fault but through lack of information and awareness that people often fall victim to HIV.
The deputy commissioner also said that Network of Mokokchung District People Living with HIV/AIDS (NMP+) is doing a wonderful job and mentioned that District Administration would support and help the NMP+ and PLHIVS in the district with whatever little source they have.Introductory speech was delivered by Project Director, CSC NMP+, T. Temsu Jamir, Project coordinator, CSC NMP+, Toshi Sangpi shared on Promoting Survival and Quality Life to PLHIVS, District ICTC Supervisor, Mokokchung Molo and Dr. Amenla, MO, ARTC, Mokokchung shared the partners’ voice.
