Cardiologist holds health talk in Dimapur

DIMAPUR — Medanta- The Medicity Hospital, Gurugram, organised a health talk event with Dr. Siddharth Varshney, senior cardiologist at Medanta Hospital Gurugram, as a visiting speaker held at the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office in Dimapur on May 21.

During the event, Dr. Varshney shared informative talk on health-related topics, aimed at raising awareness and educate about various aspects of healthcare and cardiology in the present of the deputy commissioner of Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang; additional deputy commissioner, Mhalo Humtsoe; EAC of Dimapur, Imlijungla Lemtur; government officials, DUCCF members and others.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Varshney shared about the advancement of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) best approach with complete revascularisation and quick discharge with no residual stenosis.

The senior cardiologist explained that earlier angioplasty procedures were typically performed for single vessel disease or double vessel disease. He added that the scope of angioplasty has now expanded to include more complex cases such as triple vessel disease (TVD) and that heavily calcified blockages can now be effectively treated through angioplasty procedures.

He mentioned that angioplasty procedures have evolved in terms of the techniques used with advanced medical devices and infrastructure for hybrid surgery etc.

Dr. Varshney informed that Medanta- The Medicity Hospital, Gurugram, has been empanelled with the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS). He, however, clarified that the coverage of INR 5 lakh per family per year under the schemes is currently limited to inpatient cardiac treatments only for general families.
