Dimapur, March 26 (EMN): A Ford Figo fell off the under-construction old Dhansiri Bridge in Dimapur around Saturday midnight, Dimapur Traffic Zone-II police authorities said on Sunday.
According to the Traffic police, it was not clear if the owner of the vehicle had sustained injuries as there was no witness at the time of the accident. The traffic police were informed on Sunday morning about the accident. Upon reaching the spot, only the badly damaged vehicle was found, but no sight of its owner.
The old Dhansiri Bridge has been closed since January 9, 2017. The car has been kept at the police control room for the rightful owner to come and claim it, Traffic police said. Details about the accident can be ascertained only after the rightful owner comes forward, it was informed.
It may be noted that following closure of the bridge for repairs since January 9, 2017, the Dimapur Traffic police had notified that all vehicular traffic on the route would be closed round the clock.
Following the closure of old Dhansiri Bridge, the East Dimapur Tribal Council had appealed to the authorities in concern to make arrangements by way of constructing a ‘temporary suspension bridge’ for the convenience of the public.
