Kohima, Nov. 1 (EMN): Five teams-IGAR (N), Head Hunters, 164 TA Naga, Naga FC, Kohima, Tehok FC, Mon, and Upper Khomi FC, Phek won their respective matches at the ongoing Capt. Kenguruse MVC Memorial Football Tournament at the IG Stadium in Kohima on Friday, November 1.
In the first match of the day, IGAR (N) defeated Zion Youth Club, Phek 3-2 to enter the quarter-finals.
Zion Youth led the first half with their first goal scored by Kozo in the 21st minute and followed by the second goal from the boots of Niphivilie in the 32nd minute respectively. However, they blew away their 2-1 lead in the second half.
After IGAR opened their account through HL Kipgen in the 35th minute, they came back more recharged in the second half of the match.
With a goal deficit in the first half, PT Vaiphei found the equaliser for IGAR in the 55th minute while the winning goal was scored by J Keisang in the 59th minute.
In the second match, Head Hunters routed ARC Athibung, Peren by a comprehensive margin of 6-0 to enter the quarterfinal round.
Head Hunters opened the floodgates through Khekiho Chisho in the 6th minute mark before Khampei Konyak and skipper Haotingmang Thompson slotted home the second and third goals in the 23rd minute and 30th minute respectively making it 3-0 in the first half.
The Territorial Army from Jakhama netted three more goals in the second half. The goals came through the boots of Mezizoto Tetso, Khampei Konyak and Melalo in the 46th, 59th and 79th minute respectively.
In another thrilling encounter, Naga FC, the champions of the first edition, hammered Arsenic FC, Zunheboto by a huge margin of 5-1.
Naga FC scored through Avilhou Yhome, Petevizo Kezieo and Menguzelie Rutsa in the 14th, 20th and 36th minute of the first half.
After the lemon break, Petevizo Kezieo and Hanglen Chang added a goal apiece.
The consolation goal for Arsenic came through the boots of Inito in the 57th minute.
In another goal fest, Tehok FC Mon thrashed Tsurangkong FC, Mokokchung 6-0.
In a one-sided affairs, an own goal was scored by defender Imnatoshi of Mokokchung to gave an early edge to Tehok FC in the 10
th minute of the match.
Soon, Dahli scored his brace in 21st and 27th minute while Salu took the tally to 4-0 scoring the third goal before the breather.
Atin Konyak and Zumzum added a goal each in the 47th and 60th minute respectively during the second half sealing off the victory for Tehok FC.
In the last match of the day, Upper Khomi FC, Phek registered a convincing 5-1 victory over FC Naginimora, Mon.
FC Naginimora took the lead in the first half through Keduoneize Zhale in the 26th minute.
However, Upper Khomi came back from a goal deficit to completely dominate the second half scoring a hat-trick and two more goals in the process.
During the second half, DS Nakro scored the equaliser for Upper Khomi in the 54th minute.
Four minutes later, Nakro gave the lead for his side while he completed his hat-trick in the 76th minute.
Kudahu Dzudo and Thejasetuo increased the tally by scoring the team's fourth and the fifth goals in the 77th and 78th minute respectively.
