Captain Kenguruse’s memorial trophy set to begin
Dimapur, Oct. 23 (EMN): The 5th edition of the state-level football tournament under the banner “Captain Kenguruse, MVC (posthumous) Football Tournament” will be held from October 29 to November 8.
An update from Lt Col L Vincent Patton on Wednesday informed that curtain raiser of the sporting event will be organised at the State Academy Hall, Kohima on October 24 at 4.00 pm.
The event will include with screening of a short documentary on the life and act of valour of the martyr followed by various cultural events and fanfare. “Draw of lots will also be held to group 24 participating teams into pools of four for subsequent matches to be played,” stated the update.
AR organises friendly volleyball match
Kohima battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) organised a volleyball match with students of Dainty Buds School, Kohima on October 20 with an aim to create a platform for youths to showcase their talent and to interact with them through the medium of sports, the army officers informed in a separate statement.
Students were urged to work hard for better future and to contribute towards a better society during an interaction.
The Kiphire and Jalukie battalion also organised matches between troops and youths of Longamtra town and Peren Youth Club this week, it was informed.
