Captain Kenguruse Cup to kick off on September 12

KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 8: The second football tournament in memory of Captain Neikezhakuo Kenguruse, MVC, will kick off on September 12 at Kohima local ground.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Assam Rifles officials informed that a total of 24 teams would be participating in this year’s tournament which will conclude on September 19.
As published earlier by Eastern Mirror, the tournament is organised by the 9 Assam Riffles under the aegis of Headquarters 5 Sector Assam Rifles, IGAR (North) and Headquarters 3 Corps, to remember and honour Captain N. Kenguruse who laid his life for the country during the Kargil war.The eight-day long tournament would be conducted in a knock-out basis. It was informed that some of the matches would also be held at Tsiesema Basa local ground, for Pool B and Pool D games.
A total of 21 local teams from various districts of Nagaland and one team each from HQ IGAR (North), 164 TA Head Hunter Naga and DGP XI would be participating in the tournament.
The other teams are Addax Youth Club, United Sporting Club, Saramati Nexus FC, Ungma FC, (YAA) Football Team, Naga FC, Young Star FC, Dimapur, Indo-Myanmar FC, Khaibung FC, Sturgeon FC, Aboi FC, Tuensang District Football Association XII, Zion Youth FC, Young Star FC, Zunheboto, Meriema FC, Victorious Club, Chukitong Range Sports Association, Abide Club, Liangmai FC, Vanguard FC, Tseminyu and Longleng District Football Association.
During the inaugural match on September 12 at 10 am, Addax Youth Club would play United Sporting Club at Kohima local ground, while at Tsiesema Basa ground, DGP XI would take on Young Star FC, Dimapur.
Both the semi-final matches would be played on September 17 at the Kohima local ground. The first semi-final would be held at 9 am, to be followed by the second semi final at 1 pm. The final match has been scheduled on September 19 at the same venue.
