Mokokchung, Feb. 21 (EMN):
MLA Kuzholuzo Azo Nienu on Friday said that the state government couldn’t be criticised when it comes to jobs as there is no scope for new recruitments in the state.

Nienu said this during the inauguration of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK) Centre, a partner of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship at Arkong Ward near HDFC Bank in Mokokchung.

“As an opposition MLA, we have to criticise policies which are inappropriate; however on job factor, I cannot criticise the government because it has got its limitation and has reached its saturation point where it cannot employ anyone. So we have to employ ourselves in the private sector.”

The MLA lamented lack of training institutes in the state for employment in private sector.  He added that to survive in this competitive world, a person needs to be equipped with certain sets of skill.

He appealed to the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra Mokokchung to ‘teach youths the art of fishing rather than trying to buy fish everyday for them’. He further encouraged the trainees at the centre to put their sincerity, efforts and commitment so that they can survive stiff competition.

Nienu advised the trainees to bring more training centres to train and generate more employment besides seeking placement. He also said that Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra is trying to promote employers rather than employees. “You are setting a new trend which the Naga should appreciate,” he said.

Responding to a query raised during the interactive session, the MLA said that Nagas should do away with the culture of free grant and subsidy. He added that before statehood, Nagas had dignity of labour and never depended on others for livelihood.

Replying to another query, Nienu said that promoting nepotism, favouritism and tribalism will kill the Naga society. He added that a leader should act as a leader, represent the Nagas as a whole and not their constituencies alone.

The PMKK centre was dedicated by Shilula Imchen Associate Pastor Women, MTBA.

PMKK officials said that it is the only PMKK centre in Nagaland, established in 2018 with an objective to impart life skill to underprivileged youths, school drop-outs and others who want to enhance their skill to improve their industrial readiness and better livelihood opportunities.

The centre has trained more than 500 youths, out of which 150 trainees have got placement in reputed companies while others are self-employed. The centre currently provides training on CRM-BPO, make-up artist and room attendant along with personality development, soft skill, computer basic and communication skill.  The centre also assures that all the trainees get placement in various companies, it was informed.

BJP hits back at Nienu

The Phek District BJP has accused MLA Kuzholuzo Nienu of demeaning the PDA legislators by launching scathing attacks at them during the recently concluded 27th Chakhesang Wrestling Association meet at Phek town.

Nienu had said at the event that “some of them are trying their level best to rope in the saffron party’s ideologies just to please their political gurus and be in the chair” and that they were given ministerial berths because of Central government’s pressure.

The president of Phek District BJP issued a press release on Friday stating that using Chakhesang Wrestling Association as a platform to “vent out one’s frustration and hatred towards any individuals or any organisation” was uncalled for and will not serve any  purpose. The statement went on to say that calling fellow PDA legislators as “incompetent leaders” only goes on to show his immaturity as a leader as all the MLAs have the mandate of their respective constituencies.

It further stated that allegation of bringing in “saffron party’s ideologies to please their political gurus” was a figment of his imagination. “As a leader, one should respect the sanctity of any social platform and avoid polluting it with one’s selfish motive,” it read.

The press release went on to state that BJP Phek is confident the PDA government will deliver all round development in the state under Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Deputy CM Y Patton.
