DIMAPUR — Canara Bank on Monday opened a new branch at 7th Mile Gate, near auto stand, Chümoukedima district.

This marks the bank’s sixth branch in Nagaland after Dimapur, Kohima, Mokokchung, Pfutsero, Angphang (Mon district). According to Canara Bank officials, two more branches will be opened in the state by this year – one at Diphupar, Chümoukedima district, and another in Mon district.

HT Baviskar, General Manager, Canara Bank, Circle Office Guwahati, informed that there are 197 branches including administrative units across the north eastern states.

He said that the Northeast needs more banking services as the region was deprived of such services for a long time.

While mentioning that Canara Bank is the country’s third largest bank, Baviskar extended his appreciation to all the loyal customers.

He also assured that they will work to open more branches across Nagaland state.

Registrar of NIT Chümoukedima, Manoj Kumar Prabhakar opined that the main problem with banks in Nagaland is that they fail in the marketing aspect. Stating that Chümoukedima district has huge potential, he urged banks to give prompt and quality service so that they will be able to do business well.

Kumar Sanjit, AGM of Regional Office Dibrugarh, disclosed that about 31 new Canara Bank branches are in the pipeline in the Northeast.

He also assured the people that the bank will provide quality service.
