DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 6: Cultural extravaganza marked the concluding session of theCatholic Association of Nagaland (CAN) triennial convention on November 6.
In a common session titled, “Journeying Together”, clergy and laity actively interacted to find ways and means to enhance faith formation and family apostolate, followed by Holy Eucharist participated by parishners of the Holy Cross parish.
Bishop explained the meaning and implication of the resurrection in the lives of Christians. He motivated the congregation to live qualitatively, instead of merely working, earning, eating, drinking and making merry because it is a preparation for eternal life with God. He said quality of life is not measured by the quantity of our goods, money, furnishing, machinery and latest electronic gadgets, but by quality of love, service, dedication and relationships. Bishop added that resurrection is the central tenet of Christian faith and the reason of human existence. New office bearers for next three years was also elected headed by Dr. Simon Neiviselie Dzüvichü as president, Vihoto Marcusand James Tsathrongli as vice presidents, Mhaseto Nakro as general secretary, Ruokuoneinuo Marinaand R. Shurhotho Basil as secretaries, Marcus Mezhü-o Solo as treasurer Akangna Iheilung, Pichano Agnes Kikon, Dr. John Kent, Sarhunyi Stephen Dukruand James Khendimong as members.
On the occasion, Rev. Dr. Sojan Puthankudy, Chancellor, Diocese of Kohima, was the special conferrer for the valedictory cum cultural extra-vaganza.Angela Vilanuo, President of Nagaland Catholic Women Association, also exhorted the gathering.
During the cultural extravaganza, the contingent from Aizwal, called Project Praise, enthralled the audience by their locally composed songs, cultural dance from New Jalukie, duet by Catherine and her sister, nimble steps by David and co., solo by Romet Kikon and fantastic Shaolin Kung Fu show by the children of St. Joseph’s Children’s Home.
