More than 450 scouts and guides form North Eastern state of Nagaland, Manipur, Arunachal and Upper Assam have come together to participate in the current ‘Camporee 2013’ centered at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Dimapur.
The ‘Camporee 2013’with motto ‘Youth for peace and harmony’ was inaugurated by Governor of Nagaland and Manipur, Dr Ashwani Kumar.Dr Ashwani Kumar praised the Province of Don Bosco Dimapur where the school which was estimated in the year 1981 today has more than 2180 students with so many other extensions like technical schools and centres. He also cited that in this modern age when children are glued to television, mobiles and internet, such kind of camps becomes relevant and useful as it gives opportunity for children to mix and mingle with others from diverse background, religions and regions which will enable them to learn from each other.
He also advised the young students quoting, ‘To succeed in life apart from good education and intelligence you require very good interpersonal skills and good behavior’. Adding to that he also stated with such skills chances of success are very less. And he encouraged the students to participate in various extra curricular activities with enthusiasm and interest apart for the studies.
Emphasizing on the theme ‘Youth for peace and harmony’, Dr Ashwani Kumar stated that it is important to teach the children to live in peace and harmony and face the world with a positive attitude as it is said to believe that young and youths are the best agents for change and for a better tomorrow. Inspection of the scouts and guides were performed by Dr Ashwani Kumar and various performances like martial arts, cultural dance, dance and songs were part of the programme.
Altogether 12 schools came to be a part of the ‘Camporee 2013’ which is a yearly gathering for scouts and guides will continue till December 21. Also during the event, ‘Maths Magic’ book was released by Dr. Ashwani Kumar.
